A married couple, Anatoliy and Svitlana, having learned about mentoring, decided to dedicate themselves to helping orphaned children. They were matched with two brothers as mentees: Andriy and Kyryl.<\/p>\n
This happened during the most difficult period of their lives \u2014 their mother, whom they loved deeply and were very attached to, was deprived of parental rights.<\/p>\n
Anatoliy and Svitlana supported Andriy and Kyryl by staying close to them, encouraging and inspiring them, and bringing stability and security into their lives. As a result, they helped the boys cope with this difficult situation.<\/p>\n
Together they spent time talking about various topics that interested the boys. They also made interesting and useful things with their own hands, which helped the boys experience success through, even if small, achievements in life. After building a birdhouse, the boys were very pleased with their work!<\/p>\n
The mentors had a positive influence on their school performance, and as a result, Andriy improved his grades! In mathematics, Andriy receives the highest marks, which motivates him to study even harder. One of the achievements in the relationship between these pairs is that the Mentors managed to instill in their mentees a love for life and for those around them, helping them develop positive habits.<\/p>\n
Despite the relatively short period of interaction, they have already developed trusting and very friendly relationships. A clear example is the following situation that happened to one of the mentees in May.<\/p>\n
Sasha (Andriy\u2019s friend) tried to persuade him to run away from the children\u2019s center together with him, to which Andriy replied: \u00abI won\u2019t go with you because I have a Mentor, and he is very dear to me. If I run away with you, they won\u2019t allow him to come visit me.\u00bb The boy ran away, but Andriy stayed. This incident affected the institution\u2019s management so deeply that soon its director called the project coordinator and strongly requested that Sasha (the runaway boy) also be matched with a Mentor.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
