For all of us, 2022 turned out to be difficult and unpredictable: many goals were not achieved, many dreams did not come true. But despite all the challenges, we do what we must and continue to believe in goodness. In the Mentoring Association programs, we teach our teenagers to believe in themselves and, choosing their own path, confidently move toward achieving their goals.
Meet Volodya Bulyubash, a graduate of an orphanage. A talented young man who knows many interesting movies and cartoons and can recommend a film for any mood. Volodya knows how to support his friends during difficult times, and his heart is filled with gratitude toward those who help him become better. He is generous with his smile and always ready to lend a friendly shoulder, while at the same time he has learned to say what he thinks sincerely and openly. Not long ago, Volodya had never really thought about what he wanted to achieve or made any plans for the future, and after leaving the orphanage he went to vocational school to train for a profession he had neither the desire nor the talent for, simply because that decision had been made for him at the orphanage.
After joining the Mentoring Association’s «Path to Success» program, Volodya studied a lot and attended all the meetings with successful people, where they shared their success stories and tools for filling life with meaning and achieving their goals. After graduating from vocational school and completing an internship at a factory, Vova realized that he wanted more — he wanted to continue studying in order to get a profession he would love and that would be useful. And this year, a difficult year, despite challenging circumstances, he studied hard and, as a result, was admitted to the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine, Faculty of Ecology. When asked why Ecology specifically, he answered without hesitation: «I want to take care of the planet, monitor what is happening to it, and understand how to prevent the climate horrors that are destroying our land. I want to make my contribution to helping our planet. I’ve read a lot about this and understand how important it is both for people and for preserving life on Earth».
Volodya made his choice — he understood what he truly wants, what he dreams about, and where he wants to be useful. A noble goal and a great desire to learn. As Vova said: «I want to put in my maximum effort to be the best in my faculty!»
When there is an environment that fills a child with the right values, motivation for success, support, love for the world and for others, the child begins to think differently, choosing their own path and consciously taking steps toward their dream.
