Dear friends, we are delighted to announce the launch of a new initiative by the Mentoring Association: the support group «The Power of Mentorship.» It was created to bring together people with different experiences but shared values — helping children from vulnerable groups who need the support of significant adults — mentors.
This weekend, we held our first meeting, attended by both mentor candidates who are currently in the matching process with a child for mentorship, and active mentors with varying levels of experience. Participants shared their challenges, successes, and stories that help build trust with children. In a warm and friendly atmosphere, we discussed the expectations of all participants, as well as the importance and necessity of such meetings.
Special attention was given to creating a safe space for everyone. It was important to hear what each person needs to feel comfortable during future meetings. Mentors also exchanged ideas on fun ways to spend time with a child during the winter. This creative approach and the originality of the ideas inspired everyone.
The Association team plans to hold such meetings monthly in Kyiv. If you are a mentor for a child and would like to join, share your experience, hear interesting stories from other mentors, receive advice and support, we would be very happy to see you in our friendly circle!
