Every mentor support group meeting is filled with joy because we see children in institutions and young people gaining wonderful, caring, and most importantly safe adults in their lives.
A support group is a space for learning, mutual support, finding solutions, and resources. It’s a place where we get to know each other better, share experiences, and simply have a good time.
This time, the discussions were so important and engaging that we didn’t even have time to move on to discussing Bruce Perry’s book. So we decided together: for the next meeting, we’ll read the first two chapters and make sure to set aside time for discussion, since many participants have already noted how relevant and worthwhile this book is.
The strength of mentorship is that you are not alone. The strength of mentorship lies in the support of people who have similar experiences. The strength of mentorship is that every day you are changing children’s lives.
