Mentorship should not remain just a legal norm; it must become a real support system for children in communities.
This was emphasized by the Mentorship Association for Children and Youth during a roundtable discussion in Lutsk, where representatives of authorities, social services, and communities discussed practical steps for implementing the law.
Our key message:
Mentorship is not just an interaction between a child and a mentor. It is the creation of a comprehensive system of cooperation among communities, services, organizations, and people who are ready to support children.
The Mentorship Association is ready to strengthen communities. We:
• train specialists and future coordinators;
• provide methodologies, tools, and work algorithms;
• offer support and supervision at the initial stage;
• share practical experience in implementing mentorship.
Our approach is simple and sustainable — to help the community create a system that will function independently. That is why we work according to the principle of «training those who will train others.».
Participants supported this model of cooperation and noted that it is realistic and effective for the Volyn region, which has a significant number of communities. All speakers emphasized that they support the development of mentorship, are ready to implement the new law, and participate in creating a mentorship system at the regional and community levels.
Ahead lies scaling, strengthening the information campaign, and preparing local teams that will make mentorship accessible to children in every community. Together, we are creating a system that changes lives.
