From September 10 to 14, the Mentorship Association for Children and Youth, together with the Coordination Center for the Development of Family-Based Care and Upbringing and the NGO 3D, conducted a pilot of a new training program for mentor preparation in accordance with the new legislation.
We had the opportunity to review the new training program materials together with an expert group and assess their quality.
The Association is currently acting as an expert in the development of the new training course: with the involvement of specialists, including partners from 3D and an expert from the Shevchenkivskyi Center for Social Services, a new program is being prepared under which future mentors in Ukraine will soon be trained.
For our part, we would like the new training program to expand knowledge opportunities, because under the new law the number of children in need of support has increased — and this is a challenge that requires additional development and training.

We would also like to remind you that under the new legislation, the following currently have the right to a mentor:
🔹 Orphans and children deprived of parental care.
🔹 Children living in difficult life circumstances (living in families or institutions).
🔹 Children of the Defenders of Ukraine, including fallen Heroes.
🔹 Children affected by military actions and emergency situations.
🔹 Young people up to 23 years old who continue to need support on their path to independent living.
Therefore, it is important that this process becomes a conscious decision for everyone, without haste, but with wisdom and responsibility.
