Today, the youth of the «AgroMentor 2.0» project, together with mentors, became a real marketing team for a day BASF. During the Shadow Day in the marketing department, participants saw how a product’s value is created and tried themselves in the role of marketers.
This year, new corporate mentors joined the project, while those who already had experience participating continued working with the youth this year as well. Over the coming months, they will introduce participants to different areas of work within a large international company. Through teamwork, meetings with specialists, and the Shadow Day format, young people will have the opportunity to see from the inside how different departments operate, what professions stand behind a company’s success, and what opportunities open up for a future career.

«What I remember most is how we ordered food for the whole group. There were almost 30 of us, and it was a real responsibility. The hardest part was wording the order correctly, but I realized that I can handle even tasks like that. It was a very interesting experience» – Danya.
Working in teams, the young participants created advertising ideas for promotional products, wrote social media posts, prepared presentations, and even completed a practical task of ordering lunch for all event participants. It was especially interesting to watch how an ordinary branded notebook turned into a «clover» for farmers in one team’s concept. At the same time, participants didn’t just name the product — they searched for its real value for the customer, showing what benefits it could bring.
«What I liked most were the interactive tasks and interesting facts about marketing. Together, we wrote a post and a letter to the company, learned to notice important details, and understood that real communication begins with understanding the client’s needs, not simply with the desire to advertise something» – Anya.
During the meeting, the young participants discovered several important principles of marketing:
- marketing and sales are inseparably connected;
- the first three seconds help capture attention, but sometimes it takes three months to truly understand the customer;
- a good marketer first and foremost strives to understand people;
- it is important to be curious, ask questions, and not be afraid to express your ideas.

«Thank you for the opportunity to be part of this event. I gained a lot of useful insights for myself. Most importantly, I realized that success is not about simply selling something, but about understanding a person’s needs and helping them achieve the desired result» – Alyona.
The shared lunch became a special ending to the day, where through casual conversations, smiles, and new connections, trust, mutual understanding, and genuine partnership were built between the youth, mentors, and the BASF team.
We thank the BASF team for the warm welcome, the opportunity for young people to see marketing in action, and for helping youth discover new professions.
