To support mentorship in Ukraine, on August 17, 2021, a meeting was held between Minister of Social Policy Maryna Lazebna and representatives of the public union «Association of Mentorship for Children and Youth.».
The participants discussed the development of mentorship for orphans and children deprived of parental care who live in orphanages and institutions for children deprived of parental care, as well as in other institutions for children, and the support and activation of the work of regional social service centers in this area. It was also noted that mentorship is real and effective assistance for children raised in orphanages and institutions for children deprived of parental care in terms of socialization and adaptation to independent living.
During the meeting, the participants identified both positive trends in the regulatory framework and the Mentor Training Program, as well as problematic issues regarding the development of mentorship.

The participants also discussed further promising steps in the development of mentorship and agreed to cooperate, as well as involve other public organizations focused on the development and support of mentorship in order to consolidate efforts in preparing and implementing training programs and professional development for specialists of regional social service centers and mentors.
