Self-Help Kit webinar training from our Super Mentors

We believe that support begins with simple, sincere conversations. This time, our young leaders — Supermentors — held a webinar for their peers from other regions to share the knowledge that once helped them themselves. Our partners from VAV Better Future invited their youth, participants of the Corporate Mentorship program, to join this webinar.

We talked about how the war and other challenges keep us in a constant state of tension every day. If we ignore the signals our body gives us, we can lose both physical and emotional well-being.

We discussed:

• what you should and shouldn’t do when you want to help a person experiencing acute stress;

• what signals our body gives when it needs rest;

• how to recognize and accept your reactions — insomnia, anxiety, anger attacks, or dizziness.

We shared our own ways of recovery: sleep, music, silence, walks, delicious food, time with family, walking the dog, birds singing… Each of us has our own resource, and that’s normal.

During an interactive exercise, participants chose illustrations that symbolize calm and safety for them. We saw how unique our ideas of recovery are — and how important it is to know what works specifically for you.

We practiced:

  • box breathing;
  • Jacobson muscle relaxation;
  • the ability to bring yourself back to the «here and now»;
  • an exercise imagining your calm place;
  • the Basic Ph approach — recovery through the body, thoughts, feelings, environment, faith, and imagination.

In a warm, safe atmosphere, our youth sincerely supported one another. Because sometimes the most valuable thing we can give is simply to be there, listen, and understand.

Remember: your resource is in your hands. Take care of it. And if things get hard — reach out for support. Together is easier.
