Content Is King

Dear friends, our joint project with Mary Kay Ukraine «The Real You: Shine with Mary Kay» is successfully ongoing, and on December 4, our third webinar, «Content Is King. How to Spot Fake Content and Write Great Texts,» took place.

The chosen topic is extremely relevant for our girls, as each of them uses social media, and it is very important to learn how not to fall for fake content and instead develop critical thinking skills. Our youth learned these skills from a speaker with extensive experience in the field of communications.

The girls learned about information bubbles and how influencers can shape public opinion, and received valuable recommendations on how to recognize phishing messages. After all, young people from vulnerable groups are often the primary targets of scammers. The teenagers were very interested to hear about deepfakes and how to recognize content created using artificial intelligence. And the attention test video clearly demonstrated to everyone how easily our perception of information can be manipulated.

But young people don’t just want to consume content — they also want to share their thoughts on social media. And every girl dreams that her post will be interesting and get lots and lots of likes. Our speaker also shared the secrets of the art of storytelling with the project participants. We talked about important techniques and story structures that resonate with audiences and received interesting ideas for posts.

And finally, the speaker invited all participants to write their own sincere story, which they could later share with mentors if they wished. After all, everyone has something to tell! And maybe today this story will remain on the pages of a notebook, but over time it will make its way onto the pages of a personal book.
