Training "United by Mentorship" in Lviv

At the beginning of February, a two-day training session, «United by Mentorship,» took place in Lviv. The event brought together representatives of civic and charitable organizations, youth centers, and youth spaces from more than 15 regions of Ukraine — both those already implementing mentorship programs and those only planning to launch this initiative in their communities.

During the training, participants:

• became thoroughly familiar with the provisions of the Law;
• worked through algorithms for engaging children and youth;
• examined the process of mentor training, organizing support and supervision;
• shared practical experience in implementing mentorship in their communities.

The Mentorship Association for Children and Youthjoined the event as invited speakers. We had the opportunity to talk about the importance of mentorship in a child’s life, the principles of matching mentors and children, as well as the professional support system that ensures the safety and sustainability of these relationships.

As part of the meeting dedicated to the development of mentorship, we shared our experience with future coordinators of this field from different parts of Ukraine. The event brought together people who will soon be developing mentorship in their communities, building teams, and helping children find reliable and safe adults by their side.

The training was organized by the Coordination Center for the Development of Family-Based Care and Child Care as part of the «United by Mentorship» program in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine, the State Service of Ukraine for Children, and UNICEF Ukraine within the framework of the project «Social Protection for Inclusion, Resilience, Innovation and Transformation (SPIRIT)» with financial support from the British Embassy Kyiv and the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office.
