And another meeting — in our small, but already quite close-knit community.
This time, we had many topics to reflect on and discuss. An extremely valuable guide in this process was Bruce Perry’s book, which helped us gain a deeper understanding of the neurobiology of trauma. When you realize how the past affects the present, your perspective on others changes too — especially those whose life journey has not been easy.
«The drive for love and belonging is a deep universal human trait. We are social beings and must be part of a community — emotionally, socially, and physically connected to one another. If you look at the basic organization and functioning of our bodies, including the brain, you will see that most of it is devoted to creating, maintaining, and managing social interactions. We are made for relationships with one another.

These words once again remind us how important the role of a mentor can be — a person with whom a child, even if not from birth, can build healthy and trusting relationships.
